Welcome to the latest edition of the Mount Laurel
First E-News letter.
If you have not already done so, I would like to
remind you that if you subscribe to the mailing list you will receive the E-News
letter directly to your email account. This letter is intended to inform
you of what is going on around Mount Laurel - first.
Extending Open Space Ordinances: The
two
questions that were placed on Tuesday's ballot passed with an almost TWO to ONE
margin. Passing these ordinances will NOT increase Taxes but merely extend
the original expiration date by 20 years on each, which would allow the Township
to be able to fund future Open Space purchases and allow future residents to
help pay for our current AND future purchases.
Mount Laurel Library:
There are a number of events
planned at the Mount Laurel Library for the month of November. Events for
adults, toddlers and teenagers! Please check out their calendar for more

Event at Paws Farm: Paws
Farm is having a “Remember the Animals Weekend” – December 1st and 2nd
– time is 10am until 4pm. Join them as they stock their shelves and feed room
with supplies that the staff will use to feed the animals through the winter.
Cost is $5 per Adult and $3 per Child. For each donation you will receive a
chance to win their door prize.

Taking Precautions with Confirmation of MRSA
A Harrington
Middle School student has been diagnosed with methicillin-resistant
staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection, and is undergoing treatment. A
parent letter (see online at:

each Harrington student, along with a fact sheet (see online at:
http://www.mtlaurelschools.org/!docs/MRSAFacts.doc ) about the disease.

Lenape
Band takes first place honors:
The Lenape High School Marching Band marched to a first place finish at a
regional competition last weekend. The school's marching band took home the
distinguished title Sunday in the U.S. Scholastic Band Association Northern

Identification Fingerprinting Service is available at the Mount Laurel Police
Station on Saturdays from 9:00am-11:00am and on Sundays from 1:00
pm-3:00 pm
Lenape JROTC receives honor: Lenape's Junior Reserve Officers'
Training Corps (JROTC), led by Col. Fred Sherrer and SFC Henry Gantt, has been
named Honor Unit with Distinction. The Department of the Army presents
this award to the JROTC units that maintain an exceptionally high standard of
performance. The evaluation of JROTC units is a two part process: a formal
inspection and a unit report. Lenape's unit achieved an outstanding rating with
a combined score of 979 points out of 1000 possible points.
