Dear Neighbors,

Welcome to the latest edition of the Mount Laurel First E-News letter.

If you have not already done so, I would like to remind you that if you subscribe to the mailing list you will receive the E-News letter directly to your email account.  This letter is intended to inform you of what is going on around Mount Laurel - first.

Mount Laurel Police Expo:  The Expo will be held at Laurel Acres Park and will run from Noon until 4pm on Sunday, October 21, 2007.  This is the 15th year that this event has been held and it is to help publicize National Crime Prevention Month. The event will feature demonstrations and displays from more than 30 county, state and federal agencies.  There will be K-9 demonstrations, swat team and bomb squad demonstrations, police vehicles on display and many more exciting events.

Fire Department Chief Bob Gallos:  The Chief was presented with a commendation from the Township on Monday, October 15, 2007, at their public meeting.  Chief Gallos was commended for his bravery and heroism for entering a burning vehicle and freeing the passenger by cutting the seatbelt and carrying her to safety just moments before the gas tank exploded.  To read the story in the Burlington County Times click here:  http://www.phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/news/112-10172007-1424978.html

New Council Member Appointed:  Also at the October 15, 2007 public meeting, I was sworn in to finish the remaining time on Councilwoman Devery's seat on council.  I presented myself to the Republican Municipal Committee at a special meeting held on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 for this seat.  I was chosen, along with two other individuals to be presented to the Council members for an interview just prior to the October 15th public hearing.  After interviewing all three of us, the Council held a vote at the public meeting and I was selected.  I will serve this position with respect for all of the residents and look forward to working with Council to improve the quality of life in Mount Laurel.  I will continue this E-News Letter as a non political, information site only.  I would like to thank all of you who have sent me emails with well wishes and congratulations.

Please visit the site to find out when public works will be collecting leaves in your area and be sure to read the regulations as to how and when to place the leaves by the curb for collection.

A Curfew Has Been Established:  Council has passed a resolution to establish a curfew hour of 10pm, which will be in effect the evening known as Mischief Night (Tuesday, October 30, 2007) and designate that 9pm will be the end of time for knocking on doors for Trick-or-Treating on Halloween (October 31, 2007).
